It is the lowest acupoint on the body located on the bottom of the foot between the second and third metatarsal bones, approximately one third of the distance between the base of the second toe and the heel.

Massaging this point aids in calming the spirit, clearing heat and tonifying yin, as well as pulling the excess down from the head and descending qi.  This will help with headaches, neck pain, dizziness, nausea and vomiting.  It can relieve restlessness, ease fear and anxiety, help with insomnia and undirected thoughts, clear the mind and aid with memory.

The winter months can be hard for a lot of people.  The days are short, cold and wet.  It’s easy to get in ones head and become unsettled.  When these feelings come this point can restore hope and optimism. It can bring a surge of revitalizing, restoring and invigorating energy.  Wisdom and will power can be brought back when pressing this point.

Press on kidney1 while inhaling and release while exhaling. Do this for 3 minutes on each foot a few times a week to feel the full benefits.  This point also responds well to getting barefoot in the dirt, walking on the beach and taking a foot bath.
